Bob Woodward New Book

I'm not a big Bob Woodward fan.I consider him part of the MSM.

Stephen Hawking was recently on Larry King to answer questions on his new book 'The Grand Design'.
Hawking's conclusions, the universe didn't need God to create it.

After a few brief questions to Hawking, a panel was then asked to respond to his answers and add their understand of the universe's creation.

Hawkins, "No Need For God"

Stephen Hawkins has a new book out 'The Grand Design'. In it he claims that “God wasn’t necessary for the creation of the universe.”

Citing the 1992 discovery of a planet orbiting a star other than our Sun, he said: “That makes the coincidences of our planetary conditions – the single Sun, the lucky combination of Earth-Sun distance and solar mass – far less remarkable, and far less compelling as evidence that the Earth was carefully designed just to please us human beings.”
He adds: “Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing.
“Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist.
“It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going.”   MORE

Hot Afternoon at Barnes and Noble

Spent the hot day yesterday with a stack of books over at Barnes and Noble. Nice and cool with a Frappacino and I was set.

I wish they would turn the music down a few notches.

I usually have a fair mix books, political, religious, fiction, non-fiction. Here what I read.

Political: The Blueprint: Obama's plan to Subvert the Constitution and build an Imperial Presidency by Kenneth Klukowski and Kenneth Blackwell
This book was a little different from the rest of the Obama books out there. There are two authors, one is a Constitutional (Ken Klukowski) the other a Professor and Journalist (Ken Blackwell). I liked he book  because it went beyond the rhetoric and talking point to explore the legality of President Obama's actions. I recommend it.




Religious: How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization by Thomas Woods Jr. PhD
I picked up this book because my Son and I were talking about a history class he is taking in College. The professor is very bias against the Catholic Church and is using the Galileo incident to show how the Catholic Church is against science, which is beyond bogus. He is also a proponent of the 'Dark Ages'. This book addresses those areas of history and sheds light on what most modern day scholars see as this thousand year period being one of darkness but one with my discoveries in agriculture, literacy, metallurgy, the creation of universities, yes even astronomy and science. This is one for the personal library.










Fiction: Lost Empire: a Fargo Adventure by Clive Cussler and Grant Blackwood
I don't read fiction as much as I use to but on occasion I like a good yarn. Clive Cussler fills that fiction sweet tooth. His books have a sense adventure with a mix of history. Usually a fast read with good tale to keep your interest.







Non-Fiction: War by Sebastian Junger
This is truly amazing insight into the Afgan War, it's terror and adrenaline, it's sadness and sorrow and every emotion in between. This is the story told by the film Restepo (see my post) but goes further to complete the brief film footage of actual combat.

U.S. Open Brawl

Perhaps you've seen this video of the brawl at the U.S. open.

Maybe this has happened to you, it has for me. Apparently 2 older individuals took the foul language of another individual at the event. Most would just try to put up with the foul mouthed individual. Why do we have to put up with their language? Because we don't want to make a scene? Don't want to escalate the matter? The other individual is BIGGER than us perhaps.

Whatever the case I've noticed that this type of behavior is getting worse. The cussing the swearing from ever increasing younger people. If you happen to mention to them if they can keep their language in check, they become quite belligerent, "hey it's my right! If I want to cuss a stream of obscenities at God or you or anyone else, that's my right!"

That's usually how it happens.

I think what is most upsetting in the video is the reaction of the commentator. He is sticking up for the belligerent foul mouthed individual (to be fair it was the elder man who was belligerent and escalated the confrontation). The commentator is incorrect to say that the elderly man started it. He didn't, it was the cussing swearing man.

However, the commentator is sticking up for the younger individual. Hey it's his right to cuss, swear. Maybe the 2 older individuals should have called security to tell of their concern first

I don't know, there are no winners, here.

Just heard the President on TV this morning telling us that 'We're headed in the right direction.'

Are you kidding me? Job growth of 67k private jobs....... 283, 000 jobs lost for the summer.

Unemployment 9.6%, GDP 1.WHATEVER %.

Hey...it's just taking a little longer than we expected. We are investing not in the upcoming elections but in the generations to come....namely DEBT!

Yikes!

...and oh, if you need him, he'll be at Camp David...you know the official Presidential Retreat.
Didn't he just get back from vacation? You might say he needs to get away to put together what he's going to say at next friday's speech. Well I thought that was what the Oval Office was used for.

Sounding too negative I'm I? You're probably correct. I just hate when someone tells me the exact opposite to what is quit evident and plan as the nose on my face.

Democrats, Republicans, and anyone else running against her will be pointing to this unprecedented decision to throw one of the Sovereign Territories of the United States under the bus, for whatever reason, pick one, appease the UN, look good to the other nations, whatever.

This will be hung around Hilary's neck like a mill stone, and her bid will sink. No one is going to elect someone as President, the defender of the United States, who has put the State of Arizona in the same list as China, Russia, any of the South American radical states, Africa, who violate Civil Right to the tune of murder, rape, slavery, starvation, suppression.

She had a better chance when she kept silence and took photo op's with leaders of the world.

This is a fatal mistake that won't be forgotten.

MOVIE: Get Low

Saw a movie with the Wife this weekend that was a surprise delight for me.

Get Low has an odd cast of actors (Robert Duvall, Bill Murray, Lucas Black) and one actress (Sissy Spacek)that at first glance one will seem incompatible. But the combination actually works!

I was also surprised to see the Catholic teaching of Reconciliation, the main theme of the movie. One can't have someone else ask for forgiveness for you, one can't ask for forgiveness in the solitude of ones own mind or heart (mortal sin), one must 'confess' it out loud. In the case of Catholic Teaching, to a priest.

While the movie doesn't quite make that connection, it does portray that overall theme...asking for forgiveness

Judge Royce Lamberth granted the injunction after finding the lawsuit would likely succeed because the guidelines violated law banning the use of federal funds to destroy human embryos.

"(Embryonic stem cell) research is clearly research in which an embryo is destroyed," Lamberth wrote in a 15-page ruling. The Obama administration could appeal his decision or try to rewrite the guidelines to comply with U.S. law.

Just when I was getting through the week with some sense of sanity after the 'Marriage ruling' we in California are again wondering "What the Hell is going on? Have we totally lost our minds?"

It looks like that's exactly what is now being proposed in our Golden (Tarnished) State. Prop 19 is a new proposal up for vote in November to legalize 'Pot Smoking in the Work Place'.

...if there are only Twenty people loyal to you Lord...would you spare us?.....how about 10....5...?

While I will not be moving out of the State anytime soon, I would like to encourage everyone out there in blog land to pray for our State.It's in really bad shape and fear a 'Cliff' is near.

I haven't lost faith in God's providence however it can sometimes sadden the heart.

Goverment Bans E-Readers?

A story you got to read to believe...

Sometimes the federal government does something so laughably moronic, that one has to stop and ask the question “Are they really that dumb or is something else going on?”
Here is the setup.  Recently a number of universities around the country decided to take a look at using some modern technology in the classroom in an effort to save money.  These universities took part in an experimental program to allow students to use the Amazon Kindle for textbooks.  As you know, many people now use e-readers like the Kindle or the Nook as a replacement for traditional printed books.  There are many reasons for this including cost, environmental impact, and convenience.  Further, anyone who has gone to college understands the high cost of textbooks and would likely support any way to reduce this large expense.
Here is the pathetic punchline.  For conducting this experiment with the Kindle, Obama’s Department of Justice threatened legal action against the universities.  The ridiculous contention of the Obama administration is that the Kindle and e-readers violate the Americans With Disabilities Act.  Why?  Because the blind can’t easily use them.
Now the first thing that would pop into the minds of anybody with a third grade education and that does not work for the government is this simple question.  If e-readers discriminate against the blind, do not traditional textbooks discriminate equally?  The obvious answer is yes.

Pelosi actually wouldn't answer the question when proposed to her. A Yes or No wasn't in her answer. How hard could it be to answer it? This self claiming 'well educated Catholic'.

A Very Sad Day In Los Angeles - Marriage

A Judge in the City of Angels has decided that the peoples of Los Angeles were "Un-Constitutional" in their support of Marriage.

Marriage, defined by 1 man and 1 woman.

He used terms like 'moral disapproval' and saying things like, California "has no interest in differentiating between same-sex and opposite-sex unions,"

What does that mean. I guess if you're the one defining them you can make them mean anything. And that's just what happened. A Judge over ruled 52.3% of the people's vote.

It's not over by a long shot. A shallow victory for those attempting to change and redefine Holy Matrimony.

Holy Matrimony will always be between 1 man and 1 woman. No court ON EARTH can ever change that.

Trying to slowly get back to my blog. New job position requires most of my attention and family life activities requiring my immediate attention...leave very little free time.
