Miss California is #1 in my book.

My thanks and support of Miss California for answering a question posed to her on national TV.

Judge Perez Hilton asked the contestant "... whether she believed in gay marriage..."

Carrie Prejean, Miss California answered ""We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."

This was not the politically correct answer for the Pageant's co-director Keith Lewis.
"As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman," said Lewis in a statement. "I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit. I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family."

I didn't watch the event but I would like to say that Miss Prejean is tops in my book. She spoke the truth and it may have cost her the title. She could have given the answer they would have like to have heard. But she didn't.

Why did they ask this question in the first place? Could it have been judge Perez Hilton's personal openly gay gossip blog or Mr. Lewis' position?

Maybe the pageant wanted to press the contestants to choose sides (...their side obviously) in front of thousands of viewers.

As it happened, Miss California was not chosen as the winner, she won runner up. There apparently was outrage with this as well.

Thanks Miss California!

Miss California Sparks Furor With Gay Marriage Comments onMiss USA Telecast

When asked by judge Perez Hilton, an openly gay gossip blogger, whether she believed in gay marriage, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, said "We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."

I don't know...I think she could have voiced her opposition in a much more strategic way. It isn't her country. It's our country...and we dont live in a land where everyone is equal and open to decide. We live in a land where a woman from California can say that her country isn't the same country as the gay communitys'. We live in a land where they only have four states to be legally bound. It was a horrible answer. She didn't deserve to win.

  2. Tifanei,
Thank you for your visit and your thoughts.

I did pay a visit to your blog and read the 'About'you have posted. I like your thoughts on exploring the deeper truth, unafraid of what we'll find, but seeking the truth with honesty.

I believe that Carrie gave a truthful honest answer, unafraid of the reaction of the judges, the crowd and the other contestants. She was polite, and assured those in attendance and viewing that she didn't mean to offend anyone, but that her beliefs, upbringings and convictions lead her to the conclusion that...

...marriage is between "One Man and One Woman".

She was aware this question was posed to test her in front of her peers, friends, family, strangers and possible alter her future.

She will always be known for the "Runner-up in the Miss USA Pageant who answered that a marriage is between a Man and a Woman."

From the reports, the rants after the show by those that didn't favor her view, including the remarks of the judge who posed the question are the one's that should be held up as 'horrible'.

I don't know what you mean by 'It isn't her country. It's our country.."

She's Miss California and this being the Miss USA... well the last time I checked California (the State I live in) was still a part of the USA.

    Hmmmmm?

She may not have deserved to win...maybe so, maybe not.. but you are missing the bigger truth here. She made a decision in a split second to go with her true beliefs or to 'go-with-the-flow'. She exposed herself to ridicule and possibly her goal of winning.

Anyway, Peace be with you, thank you for the visit.
